Fieldstudy opportunities are both abundant and varied in this part of the UK. Flamborough Head and Filey Brigg on the east coast are ideal sites for the study of rockyshore ecosystems and coastal geomorphology and our proximity to the Holderness coast provides a wealth of sites for beach surveys and coastal management studies. Heather moorlands, rivers and woodlands abound in the North York Moors National Park and students studying fluvial systems; freshwater ecosystems; sustainable woodlands; glaciation; tourism and rural rebranding will be introduced to a multitude of impressive fieldstudy sites.

This part of East Yorkshire is well positioned for the study of urban geography with Hull as a wonderful ‘World City’ showing good examples of regeneration; Malton, as a small agricultural market town and Scarborough demonstrating its skill at urban rebranding.

The rolling, agricultural, chalklands of the Yorkshire Wolds also offer a diverse range of fieldstudies. Students studying biodiversity; populations; the impact of farming; rural settlement and food supply issues are very well served with some excellent fieldstudy sites.
