BSc (Hons) Geography Aberystwyth University, First Aid at Work

As a subject, I have had a longstanding interest in Geography as it combines disciplines from both the sciences and humanities to help develop a better understanding of the world and give people a greater appreciation of how physical process influence human society and vice versa. I studied for a degree in Geography at Aberystwyth University where I undertook a wide range of modules before focussing more on human geography modules towards the end of my degree. My main geographical interests were looking at environmental issues from a societal perspective and understanding how perceptions of place shape identities and influence wider society.

After my degree I spent two years working for my local water company in Hertfordshire, outside of which I spent a lot of time volunteering as a Scout Leader with my local group. It was my enjoyment of working with young people through Scouts, along with my love of the outdoors and interest in Geography, which led me to look for a career in Outdoor Education. Outside of work, I enjoy spending a lot of my time outdoors running, cycling, walking and camping, as well exploring new and interesting places and accruing pointless fun facts. Having moved from one of the flattest counties in the UK, I am currently finding my feet in the North York Moors fell running scene and hoping to join a local running club in the not too distant future.
