Head of Centre

BSc (Hons) Environmental Science (University of York), PGCE Secondary Science (Biology) (University of York), First Aid at Work

I have always had a keen interest in the natural world and undertaking my degree in Environmental Science at the University of York, helped broaden my knowledge of both laboratory and field techniques for studying the biosphere.

Since graduating, I have developed a passion for teaching after volunteering as a School Geography Ambassador with the RGS as well as working as a Teaching Assistant. I have since returned to York and completed a PGCE in Secondary Science, specialising in Biology at A-Level. My role as Tutor at Cranedale has allowed me to unite both my enthusiasm for the environment with my passion for working alongside and teaching young people. In my spare time I undertake bird surveys for the British Trust for Ornithology and enjoy walking and wildlife photography. I am also a Member of The Magic Circle and like to utilise conjuring to explore new ways of teaching abstract concepts.
