BSc (Hons) Physical Geography (Study Abroad) (Lancaster University & Victoria University Wellington), First Aid for the Outdoors
Growing up in the most beautiful county in the country (Devon obviously) I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by the natural world my entire life. During this time I became involved in all sorts of sports and youth groups, including, horse riding, endurance walking and Scouting/ Girl Guiding. This strong involvement in outdoor activities has sparked my deep interest in the natural world and led me to pursue a physical geography degree at both Lancaster University and at Victoria University Wellington, New Zealand. Based on my own experience I believe the environment will be protected in the future by the young people who enjoy and understand its vulnerability today. For this reason I am committed to environmental education.
I have had an extremely varied career to date working as everything from a dinner lady at my old secondary school, to a horseback safari guide in South Africa. Most recently and unusually I worked as a polar bear guard in Svalbard during an international scientific research project!
I love a challenge and am always pushing myself towards something new. This year I have completed a 40 mile race from Keswick to Barrow (11 hours) and am currently training for my second half marathon.
