BSc (Hons) Geography (Edinburgh), PGCE Secondary Geography with QTS (Cambridge)

I’ve been spending time in the great outdoors since before I could even walk (we’ve got some great photos of my family on Scottish hills with me wrapped up in a baby carrier) so it seems only natural that I’d find my way into outdoor education.

After studying Geography at Edinburgh University, my wanderlust took me to Hong Kong where I taught English as a Second Language for 9 months in a secondary school. This led me to apply for a PGCE in Secondary Geography and then 6 happy years as a geography teacher in schools in Essex, Bedfordshire and Nottinghamshire. During this time I also marked fieldwork exam papers for AQA.

In 2015, I decided to take a leap of faith and move into learning outside of the classroom. I volunteered for the National Trust and the Wildlife Trusts and spent 3 years working for an agricultural education charity before finding my way to the Cranedale Centre.

In my spare time you’ll find me jumping out of planes, baking sourdough bread or curled up with a couple of cats and a good book.
